JUNGE AKADEMIE Open Studios

Five international scholarship holders of the JUNGE AKADEMIE, working in the fields of architecture, film and media arts, music and literature, invite you into their studios. In fictional texts, novels, films and installations, they explore topics such as extractivism and magic, voice and technology, and the reinterpretation of traditional building techniques.

An introduction takes place at 6 pm. Guests are invited for talks and drinks.

Fellows:

Claudia Durastanti (Literature) will present an adaptation of her forthcoming novel Missitalia (in Germany) through research and film materials. A., the protagonist of the novel, belongs to a community of interstellar migrants who have moved to the Moon after the exhaustion of oil and fossil fuels at home – what kind of memory is she preserving up there?

Marusya Syroechkovskaya's (Film and Media Arts) video works, projected onto fabric, converge with the live performance of Skanky, the solo project of Norwegian trans activist and performance artist Sam(ūel) Slay Dalheim. Exploring censorship and self-censorship, the project transforms the space into a stage of resistance, questioning the boundary between voice and silence.

Saikal Zhunushova (Architecture) presents an original yurt, carried from Kyrgyzstan and reimagined through a new cover, unfolding as a space of retreat and discoveries. Once a nomadic shelter, later tied to mourning rituals, it now seeks to overcome that narrow association.

Éléonore de Duve (Literature) presents two short and intense texts. In both, tragedy will be inevitable – but skin, flowers, and the idea of faces will remain. Readings by Éléonore de Duve and Anna Julian Mendlik.

An interactive installation by Sinan Samanli (Music) lingers as an aftereffect of his working process on a new composition for chamber orchestra, which was written during his residency. In a musical game, the audience enters the same harmonic search.
