Safe ventilation technology at the Akademie der Künste
The ventilation systems in the public areas of the Akademie der Künste have been optimised. Our facilities are now equipped with high-performance ventilation and air-conditioning systems that operate with 100% fresh air supply, fine particle filters for germs and bacteria and UV air disinfection technology. Depending on the room, an air exchange frequency of three to eight times an hour is guaranteed. Air quality is monitored consistently and filters are changed regularly.

Access Information – Accessibility
The Akademie building on Hanseatenweg can be reached by public transportation (see above for details).
To make it easier for visitors with disabilities to get here, we recommend the VBB bus and train assistance service provided by Verkehrsverbund Berlin-Brandenburg. Further information
There are three accessible parking spaces in the main (cobblestone) parking lot on Bartningallee. The distance from there to the main entrance of the Akademie der Künste is approx.150 m.
The route to the entrance is easily passable with some minor restrictions. The ground is covered in slate slabs that are slightly uneven in places. There are three steps down to the entrance. A ramp with a 5% gradient is available on the right side of the building.
The flooring inside the building is also made of slate slabs on the ground floor. The Studio lobby is carpeted.
Tickets are sold next to the reception desk. The bistro ArtCanteen and the Akademie bookshop are on the left. The reception desk is 83 cm high at its lowest point.
There is still no automatic entrance door. However, reception personnel are aware of the situation and can provide assistance if required. If you run into any problems, you can contact the reception personnel by phone: +49 (0)30 200 57 2000
Wheelchairs, walking aids and pushchairs can be left in an unattended area outside the exhibition halls. Wheelchairs and portable folding stools can be borrowed (ask at the reception desk).
The exhibition halls, bistro and event spaces are on the ground floor or are accessible by lifts and ramps. All of the doors are double doors. The active door leaf is 85 cm wide. If the second (unlocked) leaf is opened, the available opening is 180 cm wide.
The exhibition halls are located on the first upper level. The lift to the exhibition halls measures 200 x 100 cm with an access width of 87 cm. There is ample free space outside the lift.
The event space (Studio) includes both a large (“Großes Parkett”) and a small (“Kleines Parkett”) event space. The Großes Parkett space is accessible without any steps. There are six places, plus companion seats, in the back row for wheelchair users; the Kleines Parkett space is accessible by platform lift. There are two places, plus companion seats, in the front row for wheelchair users.
An accessible toilet is centrally located on the ground floor in the ladies’ room. Inside, there is a 120 x 120 cm area of movement in front of the door to the toilet. Behind the door (in the toilet cubicle)is a movement area of 160 x 180 cm in front of the toilet. There is 100 cm of space to the right of the toilet. There are hand grips to the left and right of the toilet. The right-hand grip is foldable. The two sinks are partially wheelchair-accessible. The mirror is not visible from a sitting position. There is an alarm trigger with a display and acoustics (inside the toilet cubicle).
We strive to make information on accessibility transparent and are working to make our listed building even more accessible. If you have comments or questions, please feel free to contact us: firstname.lastname@example.org
