skills (2) – Jacques Herzog and Friedrich Teja Bach

Talk

Jacques Herzog and his partner Pierre de Meuron run the Swiss architectural offices of Herzog & de Meuron in Basel, which radically rethink architecture in the context of nature, history and art. Among their most renowned buildings is the “Birds’ Nest”, the National Stadium in Beijing. The art historian Friedrich Teja Bach will talk to Jacques Herzog about changing “skills”, about the social sciences and psychology as sources of architectural invention, and about the “weightlessness” and “density” of materials.
