Alexander Kluge

Archive Presentation

Innovative filmmaker, leading fiction writer and co-author of theoretical writings, Alexander Kluge is regarded as one of the most important figures in New German Cinema. In 2015, he has not only been invited to this year’s Venice Biennale to show a video installation, but is also now publishing his latest novel Kongs große Stunde (Kong’s Greatest Hour). Subtitled Chronik des Zusammenhangs (A History of Connectivity), the novel offers a lyrical insight into the history of Critical Theory. To mark the presentation of his archive, Alexander Kluge reads excerpts from his writings, showcases some current examples of his works for television, and discusses the many aspects of his oeuvre with Kathrin Röggla, Vice-President of the Akademie der Künste. Welcome Address by Jeanine Meerapfel, President of the Akademie der Künste.
